Janet
Owen Thomas, the contemporary British female composer of concert
music, has written both vocal and instrumental music for chamber
orchestra, strings, piano, organ, and music-theatre. Her works
have been performed at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival,
the BBC Proms, and others. Her song settings include poems by
Dylan Thomas and Wendy Cope.
Janet Owen Thomas' output encompasses almost all
genres, and performers of her work have included the Allegri String
Quartet, Kevin Bowyer, Mary Wiegold, Gemini, Lontano, Stephen de Pledge,
the Option Band and the Boccherini String Trio. Her work has been
played, broadcast and sold in the USA, France, Germany, Denmark, Spain
and Eire as well as in the UK, where her music has appeared in festivals
in Oxford and Norwich.
